Heart for Orphans Board of Directors
Nancy Hathaway
Founder/Director
Nancy is the Founder/Director of Heart for Orphans—a ministry God placed on her heart after she and husband, Steve, adopted three daughters from Ukraine 19 years ago. Her story is the foundation of our ministry.
Nancy began her professional life as a model and actress, primarily in commercials and daytime dramas. She played the villainess on the series Another Life. Later she transitioned behind the camera to producer, director, and writer for corporate, government and broadcast TV. But her passion and calling has become helping orphaned teens that have no voice and desperately need someone to care. Nancy works full time as director of Heart for Orphans, and she and husband Steve live in Williamsburg. They are the parents of four grown children and grandparents to three.
Stephen Hathaway
Steve recently retired after selling his business, Hathaway Power in Williamsburg, Virginia – a business he founded 33 years ago. Hathaway Power provided whole house generators and electrical contracting services to the Hampton Roads area. Prior to establishing his business, Steve proudly served as an MP in the Marine Corp. He now enjoys long distance bicycling and volunteering.
Steve is also co-founder of Heart for Orphans with his wife Nancy. After adopting their three daughters in Ukraine, Steve and Nancy felt the tug to do something to help the kids that would never be adopted. Steve not only sits on the Board of Directors, but also travels to Ukraine frequently with wife Nancy to visit our houses and keep in touch with all our teens. Steve and Nancy have four grown children and three grandchildren and reside in Williamsburg.

Colin has since returned to Ukraine, and joyfully stepped into serving with Heart for Orphans in early 2024.
Kathy Morzark
Kathy retired from teaching after spending 32 years in a variety of educational settings. In 1997 she had the privilege of spending a year living in Riga, Latvia and teaching other teachers how to incorporate a Christian Morals and Ethics Curriculum into their classrooms, as well as teaching them ways to to study the Bible for themselves. Years later, Kathy learned about a similar work in Ukraine through the International School Project and participated in four short term mission trips primarily in western Ukraine.
In 2017, Kathy traveled with Heart for Orphans and learned about the ministry to “aged-out” orphans through family style transition homes, something she had not known about on previous trips to Ukraine. Since that time, she has learned so much more about Ukraine and the needs of the children there and is grateful for the opportunities she has had to serve the ministry of Heart for Orphans in a variety of ways.
Kathy has lived in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia since her college days at James Madison University. She enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling and participating in and sharing the ministry of Operation Christmas Child with others. Kathy has a number of nieces and nephews that she enjoys spending time with whenever she can.
Becki Wegner
Becki always had a passion for serving others. She grew up in Canada but returned to her birthplace in Virginia to attend college. Becki graduated from University of Virginia with a BSN in Nursing. In 2016 Becki retired after 32 years from Sentara Williamsburg, as an Emergency Room RN.
Becki first became interested in the Heart for Orphans ministry in 2004 when H4O brought the Berdyansk Orphanage choir to the US. In 2012 Becki went on a Vision trip to Ukraine. She was immediately drawn to the children and especially remembers the Baby House, where a crowd of little hands reached out in unison to be held. She came back from that trip with the realization that God had shown her a path that He wanted her to follow. Becki has been an active volunteer and generous supporter of Heart for Orphans. She joined the Board of Directors in 2020.
She and her husband, Mark, attend Williamsburg Community Chapel. They have two daughters and two young grandchildren.
Ann Wilson
Ann Wilson was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Education. Due in large part to her love of travel and inclination to serve others, she became a stewardess for Pan American World Airways. Her PanAm career was derailed in 1970 when she volunteered for “The toughest job in the Navy - a Navy wife” by marrying a career naval officer.
The next 32 years involved nearly twenty household moves, raising three sons, living in four foreign lands (Taiwan, Iceland, Italy, and Japan) and literally in the four geographic corners of the Continental United States. In her spare time, she became a certified and experienced teacher of English as a Second Language (ESL). Ann and her husband of 54 years (Tom) are now retired and living in Williamsburg - thankfully not so very far from their nine grandchildren.
Ann has seen first hand in her many travels the challenges for children, and especially for orphans, living in foreign, often underdeveloped countries. She has a strong faith in God’s wisdom and grace, and in the power of prayer, believing that He has led her to “Heart for Orphans” and support for its critical mission.
