Ukraine has long been the breadbasket of Europe with its fertile farmlands and is one of the largest grain exporters in the world. Located in Eastern Europe, Ukraine covers an area of 233,062 square miles, making it the largest country within Europe and also the geographic center of Europe.
Ukraine borders Russia to the east, Belarus to the northwest, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary to the west, Romania and Moldova to the southwest and the Black Sea and Sea of Azov to the south and southeast. Ukraine is home to 45.5 million people. Its capital and largest city is Kyiv. The world’s first constitution was written in Ukraine by Pylyp Orlyk in 1710. It was a super progressive document that provided three separate branches of power.
